Redgate Farm Animal Sanctuary was founded in August 1986 by Jean, Derrick & Tereza Redmile at Shaw Lane , Markfield, Leicestershire. In the Beginning It started by The family Rehoming a few sick & injured Animals. This soon escalated dramatically into rehoming Horses, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Ducks, Geese & even owls.

Due to the ever increasing financial burden on the Redmile family, Charity status was sought after. This was obtained in March 1994. Obtaining Charity status has aided the Sanctuary in official capacities, however we now receive Animals through more channels than before, thus being a victim of our own success. The Police, Other Animal Welfare Organisations and The General public are the main area from which we receive most of our Residents.

A high portion of Animals are found new homes. This is not always possible due to Veterinary requirements, special needs or the fact that some Animals are just too ill. For our long term Residents we provide the best treatment & conditions we possibly can. The Animals then live their days out at the Sanctuary.

All the Animals in the care of the Sanctuary need support. To help us give that support we offer various Schemes in which you can help . Become a Friend of Redgate, or Animal Sponsorship scheme.

These schemes help a little, if you feel you can help more please contact the Sanctuary on:-
